Thanksgiving Sharing at Bethlehem Center of Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 11, 2007) – Needy families in the Southside community will be receiving a full un-prepared Thanksgiving meal on Monday, November 19th beginning at Noon.  Davidson United Methodist Church volunteers (40) will be delivering 400 turkeys and non-perishable food items to Bethlehem Center of Charlotte on Monday, November 19th at 9 a.m. 

This is the 8th year Davidson United Methodist Church has helped needy families in the Southside community through the Thanksgiving Sharing program.  This year they were also awarded at $3,000 grant from Food Lion in support of their giving efforts. 

Bethlehem Center Executive Director, William McDonald states that, “Bethlehem Center is deeply touched by the overwhelming generosity of Davidson United Methodist Church and Food Lion in support of our Thanksgiving Dinner Sharing program.  Their support will ensure that 400 families will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year.  We are happy to partner with Davidson United Methodist Church and Food Lion and appreciate their community involvement.”

Founded by United Methodist Women in 1940, the Bethlehem Center of Charlotte is part of the National Mission Institutions related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Our mission is to renew hope, strengthen family life and promote self sufficiency. Each year, the organization provides four core services for the Charlotte community, including community outreach, school age development programs, early childhood development programs and social services to aid and protect vulnerable children and adults in ways that strengthen and preserve families.
