Volunteer Opportunities

2012 Volunteer Application

Learning Leader and/or Mentor

3 & 4 Year Old Learners:  Learning Leaders are needed as readers for both individual and groups of students.  Development activities and games are another way Learning Leaders can interact with our youngest students to help them achieve age appropriate milestones regarding phonics, math, memory and finger dexterity.

Grade School Students:  Learning Leaders are needed for basic homework assistance and to help young inquisitive minds go “beyond the classroom” in developing their skills in Language Arts, Math, Science, History and Technology.  Students attend the After School program from 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm and our Summer Camp from 7:30 am – 3:00 pm.

Mentors play an instrumental role in character building for children in need by providing a listening ear, companionship and serving as a role model to our young students, K-5.

Middle School/High School Students:  Learning Leaders are needed for grades 6-12 as students need assistance with all school subject matters, particularly our high school students who are in honors and Spanish classes.   In addition, our students need help with writing skills, grammar, punctuation and study skills.  Our After School program for these students runs from 4:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

Mentors are also needed to provide camaraderie, positive feedback and life skill knowledge for students in their teen years. Mentors are an essential component of our teen’s scholastic success.  They provide encouragement at each milestone in their academic career and strategic guidance during SAT prep and the college application and decision making process.

Parenting/ Caretaker Programs:

Volunteers are needed primarily during the year to help with programs and events we provide for mothers, fathers, grandparents, guardians and caretakers of our youth.

Office Assistant:

Adult and college student volunteers are needed each month for two to four half days, to help with simple projects in various departments.

Events/ Outreach Program Assistant:

Volunteers are vital to the success of our events and community outreach programs throughout the year.   Current events and programs include:  Annual Golf Tournament, School Supply Drive: “Stuff the Bus,” Thanksgiving Food Drive: “Blessing Bags,” Holiday Sharing: “Star of Bethlehem,” Campership Program: KIDS2CAMP and an Annual Luncheon.
