Head Start Parent Awards Banquet 2008

This event is held annually to recognize outstanding parent volunteers for their volunteer service which they provide for the Head Start program during the school year.  

The theme for this Year's event was "Inspiring by Example & Making a Difference"

The awards categories included plaques for the Parent of the Year for 15 sites and the overall Parent of the Year for the Bethlehem Center Head Start Program. Other categories included giving certificates to parents for outstanding attendance at their monthly parent meetings, Serving on the Policy Council, and serving on the following committees; Personnel Committee, Health Advisory Committee, and  Early Childhood Education Committee. 

The Policy Council Chairperson received a trophy for outstanding Leadership as the Chairperson of the Policy Council.  The Co-Chairperson, Secretary, and Assist Secretary also received trophies for their outstanding leadership on the Policy Council.

Ruby Houston, Community Relations & Outreach Specialist form Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools was the Guest Speaker.  Ms. Houston's speech was centered on Transitioning into Public School.  Creative Catering provided a wonderful meal of fried and baked chicken, Spanish rice, vegetable melody, garden salad, rolls, tea, pineapple lemonade, and strawberry truffle cake.
