2nd Annual Great Derby Race

Bethlehem Center students had the honor of building and racing their own derby car in the 2nd Annual Great Derby Race, Saturday, June 3rd in Uptown Charlotte.

The Great Derby Race recognized 16 Bethlehem Center after-school children ages 12-14 who have excelled in their academic performance and character.  Children had an opportunity to build their very own derby car with a parent or adult of their choice. 

A crowd of about 80 cheered on the students as they raced their cars down 5th Street during the annual Taste of Charlotte.  We were honored with the presence of several BCC Board Members and City Councilwoman, The Honorable Susan Burgess.  A special thank you to our car sponsors ADP, Dartmouth Corporation, PMMC, SYSCO, Irma Ellwanger, and Abbie Butler.
